About My Site

I use many open source tools for coding and designing graphics for websites:
- I design and develop on Ubuntu Linux (sometimes Arch Linux) and a dash of Windows 7
- Sublime Text 2 for coding. Sometimes I use Vim or Komodo Edit as well.
- GIMP and Inkscape for creating graphics
- Git for version control
- WordPress for blogging and content management. I build most client websites with WordPress.
- Zim Desktop Wiki for advanced notetaking and todo-lists (this might be my overall favorite app on my computer)
- Not open-source, but hey… Dropbox!
HTML5 and CSS3
My site uses the new HTML5 and CSS3 specifications. These are supported at various levels from browser to browser, so my site may not look exactly the same in two different browsers. However, I have tested extensively, and the site certainly looks good in all modern browsers. I’ve used these new specifications carefully, and I have tried to provide fallback functionality (through jQuery) as much as possible for browsers that don’t support the newest standards. Most notably, this is Internet Explorer. Even IE9 has limited support for CSS3 styling and incomplete HTML5 support. If you are using Internet Explorer, I highly recommend you consider switching to Firefox, Chrome, or Opera.
If you notice a problem with my site, please Contact me and I’ll be happy to help you out or fix the problem.
