OK, college football fans. Now is the time – the bowl games have FINALLY been set, so get to the football page to see the matchups and enter your predictions.
We have 34 bowl games again this year, with five BCS games starting on Jan 1. There are two Directional Bowls: Southern Mississippi vs. Middle Tennessee in the New Orleans Bowl (also the Double Letter Bowl), and Northern Illinois vs. South Florida in the International Bowl (I’m sure that South Florida is looking forward to it’s bowl season trip to… Canada).
I like the BCS matchups except for Boise St – TCU. That feels like the BCS people didn’t want a repeat of Utah-Alabama from last year, so they put the two “little schools” together to let them beat each other up. I think it’ll be a good game, but it seems to me to reveal the political bias in the BCS.
Another interesting story is SMU playing its first bowl game in several years, and it’s the Hawaii bowl – meaning that June Jones is heading back out to Aloha Stadium. They’re playing Nevada, not Hawaii, but interesting anyways.
There is only one week to get bowl picks in – the form will be removed at the start of the game on December 19. So get your picks in soon and tell your friends!
