Ernst Fast is released!

Posted on Apr 1 2009 | Posted in Web/Tech | No Comments

Version 0.1.8 of TrueGoal, codenamed “Ernst Fast”, is released and available for download. I think that this is a particularly appropriate day for releasing this version, as it contains a few untested features. I’m fairly confident that everything will work just fine, but it never hurts to be careful.

I’ve added a couple big features: You can enter, view, and edit distances in your favorite units (miles or km, meters, or yards) in each sport. There are some major fixes as well: the weekly totals are displaying correctly now, distance rounding is done correctly (that is, distances are not rounded before they’re entered into the database. I don’t know why i thought that was a good idea). Distances ARE rounded before being displayed to the user.

I think that this release contains the bulk of the work in this development cycle. For 0.1.9, I’m planning to:

  • test for bugs and fix them
  • Add a MUCH friendlier install guide
  • add a calculator to determine pace, time, or distance based on the other two

The 0.2.0 release will be made when everything is stable. I’m hoping to announce it to a wider audience as well.

As I’ve said, I plan on dedicating the 0.3.0 development cycle mainly to code cleaning and interface improvements. TrueGoal 0.3.0 should have a much slicker look.
