Cold

I rode my bike into town this morning for coffee. It was 19 degrees outside. There wasn’t any wind, but riding at 20mph creates wind, and with a 20mph wind chill, 19 degrees feels like only 3 degrees. My ears were cold.
It would be nice to go on a workout in this cold and build a little toughness, but sometimes it’s such a pain – when I’m constantly distracted by the conditions, it’s hard to focus on riding. This is true for rain especially (more than cold) – I have to watch out for puddles, mud, and cars; I have to forego wearing sunglasses to shield my eyes from the wind, etc. Doing workouts in bad conditions is great, and it feels good (because it feels bad), but when the conditions are too distracting, it’s just not worth it because it’s hard to get the physical workout that I need. Oh, well.
